They do, indeed! Exactly a week ago, the universe once again provided the opportunity for me to actualize a long-held dream — to get myself a Nikon digital SLR camera. I then spent a week familiarizing myself with its basic features. Yesterday, I drove over to Baywalk at Roxas Boulevard to take some photos of the sunset, which I haven’t done in quite some time. It was a cloudy afternoon due to a storm on its way to the island so there wasn’t any magnificent sunset to photograph, but I did manage to find some other interesting subjects in the area. The following photos were from my photo shoot adventure yesterday using my new Nikon D80 dSLR.
Incidentally, I have another thing to be thankful for. After about six or seven weeks of waiting, PLDT (the local major telephone service provider) finally fixed the problem I had with my landline. I am now once again able to surf the Net at the comfort of my home with my mug of decaf coffee. Thank you, PLDT!

ReplyDeleteNice pics!!! hehe... talk about cameras... before when I didnt have a cam of my own, i had sooo eager to have one, everywhere i look, i imagine myself taking a pic. When finally I had one, i was just happy for a week, strolling and clicking whatever, whenever and wherever i can, after that, i had no interest taking pics anymore... is that a common (normal) attitude? I dont know...

God forbid, DOPS ... I hope that is not the common attitude with newly bought cameras ... hahaha! I meant to make full use of it. Actually, I've signed up for a workshop to better understand digital photography.

I love lazing around Roxas Boulevard. One trip to Manila that I always remember was when we as family drove along this place, and my daughter, who would usually just go to malls with her cousins when vacationing there, was awed that there were such other places in Manila. When I took her with me to watch Miss Saigon at the CCP, her impression changed from that of the typical "mall girl" to a more culturally aware youngster. She commented: "Marami palang makikita dito sa Manila, hindi lang malls.." haha! Then I realized, she hasn't visited Rizal Park, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Paco Church and many other historical places in Manila because unfortunately, whenever her school would organize field trips, it would usually be to Enchanted Kingdom and Subic. Well, so far, we have taken her to Fort Santiago and Paco Church. The rest - saka na lang, pag magka-college na siya diyan sa Manila in June. :)
Oh, with regards to posting comments at my site... I was trying to figure out the problem last night, and I slept it off. When I woke up, I found them right there where you left them. I don't know, I guess my Spam Eater is over reacting. hehe. Thanks for the comment, anyway.... I have replied to it.

I, too, enjoy being a student so much, Rhodora, that I get depressed when not learning or studying anything. Like now, I'm into photography and actually, will start the next workshop this weekend. When I first got here in Manila, I took up baking and cooking classes in Diliman. Ako lagi pinaka matanda sa mga klase :)

ReplyDeleteI'm studying law... grabe! At first, it was meant to just while away my time, keep my mind sharp and not to be ignorant of the law - but I got deeper and deeper - and before I knew it - I'm in my third year already. I'm not very keen about taking the bar though. I know my limitations.
Luckily, hindi ako ang pinakamatanda sa klase namin... hehehe. Meron pa akong classmate na retirable age na - at malayo pa naman ako doon.
Good luck sa photography workshop mo. Nagugustuhan ko din pagkuha ng mga photos ngayon, using both digi cam and my phone cam, pero suntok sa buwan ang pagkuha ko - wala akong alam sa professional photography. Please give me naman tips. Thanks.

I trust you'll make a great lawyer who will uphold the law and help out those who are unknowledgeable about. I had a misfortune dealing with an unscrupulous lawyer here in Manila; it is indeed a shame. Someday I'll email you about that story.
