GARDEN & PET SHOW

Please do not ask me for the exact names of these exotic flowers and love birds; I do not know. I just happened to be driving along Quezon Memorial Circle when I took notice of the huge banner announcing the Garden & Pet Show at the Quezon City Orchidarium Park that is within the city hall complex. Wanting to take some pictures, I drove another full circle around the memorial and then headed towards the parking lot of the city hall.

I took all these shots with a Canon IXUS63, which is ideal for spontaneous photo opportunities such as this; unlike the D80 dSLR which is too bulky to lug around, except for planned photoshoot adventures.
For all photography enthusiasts who want to include shots of exotic plants and flowers to their portfolio, I recommend heading over to this garden show immediately. This is also the place to go to for those planning to spruce up their home gardens anytime soon.

THe Canon IXSU got the job done Senor. They're very pretty shots, esp the flowers.

Great photos. I love the orchids. Definitely a good opportunity to get some of these flowers on a flower show like this. I went to 3 or 4 over the last couple of years and bought some orchids as well and 2 are still alive.

Wow to all your photos! When is the exhibition Eric? Gosh, you can have one you know. I can show my face when you'll open one. I may eat my words...promises. :)

Don't worry, I'm not going to ask. I have that irritating habit actually. I'm just lucky blog authors take it kindly. :)

That's a lovely cacti species on show. That's definitely purple orchids. The white-yellow looks like an orchid variety, not sure though. The white-light pink combination is single-petalled hibiscus. Not so sure about the yellow dainty flowers. Looks like yellow bell. Oh, I love birds. I hope it's not a talking parrot. :)

Quite a show I think. You're lucky to have seen the banner. :)

Many Thanks, BW. The Canon point and shooter I have does the job, but when it comes to certain shots, it becomes too limiting. That's why I also went for a dSLR.

BTW, that was quite an impressive comment you made on Ipanema's site regarding Elton John's statement. Very deep and articulate you are, BW!

I envy your green thumb, Leah. I, too love these orchids but I could not grow or keep them :( My cousin, on the other hand, has a wonderful garden filled with various varieties -- to the point that some folks in his neigborhood had pinched quite a few over the years. Many had told him to turn into a business enterprise.

I had a feeling, Ipanema, that you would know about these flowers. A Photo show? Not anytime soon -- they're mostly lucky shots ... hehehe. I was so happy to have come cross this show unexpectedly.

Jep and Sidney:

Jep, let us know when and I'll arrange with Sidney for us to all meet for lunch at Binondo. We can all meet at Binondo Church. This is exciting!

Hmmmm ... Sidney, I'm thinking of one of the eateries at the estero. I've never been there but heard so much good feedback. What do you think?

Perhaps it's because of the fact that I grew up in the province where plants abound. :)

I like your comment in my blog as well. I was laughing when I read it. I happen to have very smart Filipino commenters as you have here. Kasali na kami dyan ha? :)

I sensed you were pretty ticked off by Sir Elton's statement(s), Ipanema, so I tried to lighten things up a bit. But BW's comment was intelligently subdued. I bet he, too, felt you were about to explode at any minute ... hehehe.

But it's true about those blokes from across the Atlantic -- and this was the reason I would avoid having business lunch or dinner with any of them if I knew cocktails would be part of the menu :)

Yes, those birds are adorable. I was surprised myself that the pics of those birds came out all right, Kyels. Thanks!

Thanks, Niceheart! These pics sort of give you a glimpse of some local flowers you may have not seen in quite some time.

Game!
December 6,7,8 or 9 would be perfect for me. After that it might be difficult since I go back to Belgium for Christmas soon after...
Do you ask Jep?

Except for the 9th, Sidney, I'm fine with the other dates. I shall advise Jep.

thanks for the tip Eric now I have something to do this sunday to at least bond again with my cameras. I also have a point-and-shoot Canon Ixus 30 and a bulky Canon 300D but now rarely used. I'm busy nowadays on my new business to buy lenses but no time to practice :(

please do visit my site one of these days. We might have bumped into each other exploring Manila without knowing it :)

Paetechie ... skip the Garden & Pet Show!

I had just visited your site and the pictures you took at Sagada are incredible! You have enough beautiful flower and plant shots to grace your portfolio :)

I will, however, go back and dig up your previous entries. I'm sure you got plenty of great shots to enjoy.

Thanks for visiting my site!
