BAYWALK SWIMMING POOL PARK

Metropulis, an architect who blogs about his visions for a better Manila has a wonderful idea for this particular stretch of waterfront as shown in the above photograph. He proposes to turn it into a swimming pool park -- "an archipelago of pools and floating open spaces, accessible via floating raft or a small boat."

Furthermore, Metropulis claims, "the design will give the illusion of swimming in the waters of Manila Bay" and will not alter the image of
Roxas Boulevard with its flank of coconut trees and glorious sunsets.

And instead of a beach in Baywalk, perhaps, this swimming pool idea should be given serious consideration by Mayor Lim and other appropriate city officials.

Incidentally, those vertical steel beams at the far distance in the above photograph, mark the construction site of Ocean Park Manila which is right behind the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park.

Isn't it, Sidney?

It'll create another major attraction for the public to once again enjoy Baywalk!

I can also envision swimming lessons and contests for kids. Any why not dragon boat lessons? What fun!

That's right, Carla. But I'm sure there are now available technologies that can be applied to clean the pools regularly without any chemicals that could later prove lethal.

Nice project if that will push-thru.
Minsan, naalala ko yung man-made beach-housing complex sa Dubai. Sana pag dilat ng mata ko when I passed-by Roxas Blvd from the Airport ganoon ang makita ko. Lol!
But, hindi naman bawal managinip diba?

^^ Sana nga, magkatutoo, pero ang anak ko, takot na takot along that stretch of the road from the airport to our place with her past experience of being stopped by kotong cops years ago.
If they build that project plus the Ocean Park, that would be an amazing place to enjoy your time in Manila.

A water theme park is always a place to be for everyone.

Indeed, Reyd ... and this would be the only time I'd wish I were a kid once more ... hehehe.

But more than anything, I wish someone important from city hall and close to the powers that would see this entry and Metropulis' and give his concept some serious study.

God, please!

Hehehe!

PS

Sadly, there will always be kotong cops :(

Hi Senor Enrique and readers,

Thanks for the wonderful feedback. I am really elated by everybody´s comments. Senor Enrique´s and Carlos Çeldran´s Blogs are my tools in updating myself about Manila. I reside in Makati and barely go to Manila. So I appreciate the posts here. But I have to clarify that I am not an Urban Planner, I am an Architect.

Thanks everybody!

I have made the necessary correction on my entry to prevent readers to mistake you as an Urban Planner, Metropulis :)

You have a indeed a wonderful idea here and we are amongts those who are excited and hopeful that someone from city hall would take notice and give it much consideration.

Many thanks and keep those great ideas coming!

I'd appreciate it more if they could clean up Manila Bay, Pasig River and Laguna de Bay.

I think there's an ongoing effort to rehabilitate the Pasig River, Dave.
