ON NATURE AND ART

"There is no beauty unaided, no excellence that does not sink to the barbarous, unless saved by art, it redeems the bad and perfects the good. Nature commonly forsakes us at her best, wherefore, take refuge in art. The best in nature is raw without art, and the excellent lacks half, if it lacks culture. Without cultivation every man is a clown and needs, no matter what his attributes, polish"
- Baltasar Gracian

Funny, but as I read the quote, this thought kept playing in my mind: "Maybe I should learn how to wear make up." I never really wore make up, not even on my wedding day. But this quote made me think - not getting any younger, you know. Ah, how literal I can get. hehehe.

You are one of those considered by many as a natural born beauty, Rhoda ... hehehe.

But you know what? some A-list models and celebrities I've accidentally run tinto in New York -- at the airport, department stores, flea markets -- were not as alluring without their make-up and couture clothing.

But of course, there are ordinary folks, who look just as divine without a touch of make-up..

Nice composition!

(:

Life without art is boring; me thinks. Our lives are flourished with colors of all sorts which makes everything wonderful and flavorful at the same time.

If I may add to your thought, Kyels, art is able to relate messages that regular folks may be too timid to express.

Thanks much!

Colorful(l)!!!

As a young child crayons always fascinate me. NO, I dont eat them though, I enjoy drawing a lot. I dont know why I diverted into writing and photography than pursuing this art...but then your photos make me think that our chunk of reality through our lenses isnt far from that.

I guess I'd just be fascinated with my painter friends' works and do my own stuff lol.

Hi Cacofonix!

Sabi ni kuya, talagang kailangan natin ang art, kasi wala daw kagandahan na hindi pinaganda ng art; and nature daw kung minsan bitin ang kagandahan ... hehehe :)
