SEARCHING FOR A HOME, A MEMOIR

She has dated Elvis, taken walks with James Dean, worked as a Playboy bunny, and lived in Manila like "royalty" with her husband. They were chums with Imelda and Ferdinand. She and her husband separated and has not returned to Manila since the political unrest. To date, she's still searching for a home.

This book is about Jennifer Fay Field, her famous friends, travels and life as a royal.

Hi Eric,

I have no clue and I don't know who Jennifer Fay Field is. Is this her real name or alias? Is it Ann Margaret? Ann Margaret dated Elvis but might be too young to had a stroll with the rebel James Dean. Is it Ursula Undress? James Dean dated Ursula Undress, then was coined "the female Brando."

Carlos Marcello was the "Godfather of New Orleans" he loves New Orleans but hates Blacks and a big supporter of the KKK.

Well I'm really intrigue and I guess I have to get this book!!!

Thanks Eric & have a great week end,
ka tony

Neither did I know anything Jennifer Fay Field, Ka Tony. It wasn't until I was emailed the link to her YouTube clip.

Like you I was so intrigued that I just had to post it on my blog to share with others. By the way, I was told that the book will be out in two weeks.

Thank you, Ka Tony. You have a wonderful weekend as well!

It is indeed a nice rendition, Ms. Smith, though the original by Leon Russell is hauntingly edgy.

Neither have I heard of Fay Field before but I think this is one interesting book.

Come to think of it, Ka Tony, one of my favorite rock albums of the 70s was Mad Dogs & Englishmen by Joe Cocker.

see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Dogs_and_Englishmen_(album)

Rita Coolidge and Leon Russell were part of the awesome band that toured with Joe Cocker. A movie was made of it and became one of the most exciting rock & roll concert films that defined that era, besides Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones.

Yeah Eric,

I have to skip school to watch this movie at the "Ideal Theater" in Avenida Rizal, next door to the original site of "Shoe Mart" site of the former store "Good Earth Bazaar", corner of calle Ronquillo.

I read that Joe Cocker & his Band didn't continue the tour, 'cuz Leon Russell dominated the concert that it should have been titled "Leon Russell, Mad Dogs & Englishmen"

Thanks Eric for reminding me the places, names of streets, etc... feels good to think of the simple & good old days. Like, I passed by "Galaxy Theater" on Avenida Rizal during my junior year to MIT, the movie "10 Commandments" was showing. I passed by during my senior year and still the movie was showing!!!

...he, he, he, those where the days Eric,

The Good Earth Bazaar is still there on Avenida, Ka Tony, but the movie theaters you mentioned are no longer there.

You may want to check out the updated list of Manila movie houses I had compiled with the help of fellow bloggers:

I didn't know that there was backstage 'tampuhan' during the Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour. Nonetheless, it was a great concert they performed :)

My pleasure, Ka Tony!

I think it was an American she was married to, BW, but they lived in Manila.

If I'm not mistaken, Eric... this might be Dovie Beam. She used to be frequently around with the Marcoses during their heyday, even romantically linked with the president. :)

Could very well be, Rhoda! I tried googling but didn't find any images of Dovie Beam, though.

I knew dovie beams personally during 1978 - 1981. I lived at the pasadena mansion during summer vacation while my mom worked for dovie as her secretary. I looked for images on the web and was surprised there werent any. My mom has a few we took at xmas in the mansion. I remember her very clearly. She was pretty but aging. She wore heavy make-up and huge false eyelashes.
