SEVEN SONGS
I was tagged by Bugsybee to name seven songs I prefer listening to these days.
They can be in any genre; with or without lyrics -- as long as they’re mellifluous.
So, here they are:
Masquerade by Leon Russell
Manha de Carnaval by Toots Thielemans
Remember the Future by Nektar
Bali Song by Rivermaya
Pachabel Canon by George Winston
Take it to the Limit by Etta James
Stay by David Bowie (with Earl Slick and Chris Spedding on guitars)
Now, I will tag seven other people to see what music they’re into these days:
Minotte
NeilDC
Cathy_bythesea
Kyels
Ferdz
Jase
Although I’m supposed to tag only seven blogmates, what I’ve done with the book meme I'll do here also -- invite everyone to join in if they feel like it. You’re welcome to put the list on my comment box if you don’t want to create a separate entry of it on your site.
Thanks and have fun!

Wow! Toots Thielemans ! A Belgian ! :-)
- Señor Enrique said...
Okay, Melai ... will be checking out your new site's header!
My pleasure :)
Etta James' version is live and bluesy ... sweet!- Señor Enrique said...
Toots, as you know, happens to be a superb musician, Sidney. He had played in the recordings of many fine artists -- from Billy Joel to Willy Nelson, from jazz to rock, and from music for films to concert performances.
I had always admired him since I was young, beginning with the title soundtrack of the Oscar winning movie, "Midnight Cowboy."- said...
Eric, gotcha! I am done with the tag! Haha.

Hmm, I don't recognize any of the songs in your list. I don't listen much to music these days. Lagi kasing nakaharap sa TV. :) Once in a while when I'm bored, I'd pop in my 80's CDs in my boombox.

Where was the picture taken?
- Señor Enrique said...
The picture was taken at Baywalk at Roxas Boulevard, Irene.
If the marching band was on the left (10 o'clock), Aristocrat Restaurant would be on the right (1 o'clock).
Some of my 80's favorites:
- Drive by Cars
- Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol
- Every Breath You Take by The Police
- Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie
- Avalon by Roxy Music
- Safety Dance by Men Without Hats
- Words by Missing Persons
- Seconds by Human League
Ooops, that's eight :)- Señor Enrique said...
Saw your list, Kyels.
Am familiar with only two of your titles; the rest, oh well, guess I've been out of the loop when it comes to current music makers :)- said...
Hi Eric! Thanks for doing the meme. I've not heard David Bowie for the longest time. Each time I go to record stores, I look for a CD of his but can't find any. I also like Leon Russel's Masquerade but have not heard it again since many many years ago. I've come across Toots Thielemans but I can't recall where or what. And I've only lately discovered Rivermaya, would you believe? I liked them instantly so I went out to buy their two Greatest Hits CDs but it seems Bali Song is not there (or did I just miss it?) so I must look for that one.

Hey Bugsybee ... thanks for the tag :) You know how much I love music, BUT I had no idea you are a true aficionado yourself. You do have such a wide interest!

Hmmmm... I don't know any of the songs in your list. When I am alone in the lab though, I sing along to Rivermaya.

Check them out Eric. Barbie Almalbis is a Filipino too. And her song Firewoman is just awesome! I love her voice.
(:
I still have lots of faves, but I guess I cannot possibly list all of them down. Heehee.- -= dave =- said...
Interesting list... Just some comments:
Masquerade, is this from Phantom of the Opera?
As for Rivermaya's song, maybe you meant "Balisong" (fan knife). It is said that Paco, the band's vocalist, if I'm not mistaken, promised to return from a trip to Baguio with a balisong as pasalubong to his girlfriend. Realizing later that he wouldn't be able to fulfill this, he wrote a love song entitled "Balisong". The lines "Your face lights up the sky on the highway" is a tribute to the girl, whose face graced a billboard ad.
Canon in D major, eh. Pachelbel is the composer of that masterpiece. It's a wedding song made more popular today by the Korean movie "My Sassy Girl". A very apt song for the celebration of true love, I must say, for hearing it gives me the sensation of soaring through the air. Sigh.
It would be difficult for me to list mere seven songs. In terms of genres, I'm currently into Pinoy Rock, 90's music, sentimental ballads, instrumentals and house/trance music.
Hmm.. better blog about music too, if I have time.- Señor Enrique said...
Hi hb00!
Is that Leslie Gore from the '60s?
Diana Krall I love :)
Trois Gymnopedies, I wonder if this is the same instrumental piece that I love?
Thanks for sharing your list, hb00!- Señor Enrique said...
Rivermaya is a cool group, Aurea. One of the local bands I treasure.
- Señor Enrique said...
I have to check it out then, Kyels. Like I said, I'm sure you have a fine taste also with music :)

Masquerade is from Leon Russel's '70s album, Carny (I think). George Benson did a cover of it which became a big hit.
You might be right and that might just be Balisong, Dave!
Yes, Canon in D ... great piece!
Music might be just the inspiration for you to post another entry in your well-written site, Dave. I will gladly wait for this new post :)
I'm serious ... hehehe!- said...
Yes, Eric. The same "Cry If I Want To" girl released an album last year. Very cool of her.
Yes, Trois... is the French classical instrumental piece you love.
And yes, I heart DK, too!- Señor Enrique said...
Wow! A must to check out: Leslie Gore's new album. After all these years .... :)
James Galway's Trois Gymnopedies is my favorite. The sound of his haunting flute is incredibly soothing!
I love Diana Krall's duet with Tony Bennet which they performed at David Letterman's show -- "Baby It's Cold Outside."
Wonderful!
Thanks, hb00!- said...
Ei Eric! Thanks for the tag! Am done with mine. hehehe! I think I know only 3 songs from your list.

As said, I have to check out some more new music out there!- Señor Enrique said...
