Anonymous said...: I used to munch on peanuts while reviewing for exams. Then also, when I was pregnant, my sister advised me to eat peanuts para daw matalino ang anak ko. Brain food daw kasi ang peanuts. Don't know if it's coincidence, but modesty aside, matalino nga ang mga anak ko. hehehe.

My Vietnamese co-worker introduced me to a spicy hot peanut mixed with 3 different kinds of chilli with garlic and ground sea salt fried in Canola oil...napakasarap!

Manin'g Sung-song ang tawag namin nuon sa nilagang mani.

Nuong bata pa ako, sinkong mani na nakabalot sa coned shaped diyaryo, sinkong Cosmos Sarsaparilla at Tagalog Klasiks ang binabasa ko pagkagising sa mandatory siesta sa hapon..kung baga warm up bago mag-umpisa ang Matinee shows sa TV tulad ng Our Gang, Highway Patrol, Lassie at saka The Last of the Mohicans..bit-bit ko pa rin ang isa pang supot ng mani!; February 01, 2008 12:39 AM

nutart said...: wow! those peanuts look like they would jump out of the screen! I like the sungsong type---I don't know why once you pop one in the mouth, you can't stop---healthier than Pringles :-)! Love the peanuts sold by the hawkers too although I don't eat them much since I found out they recycle oil a lot. So I have learned to cook them myself and then mix them with cashew, raisins and the usual mixed nuts pack. Heaven!; February 01, 2008 9:41 AM

Señor Enrique said...: I thought maning sungsong are the roasted ones, not the boiled -- I love both, nevertheless.

There used to be a bar in New York's Greenwich Village where they served free roasted peanuts; patrons would throw the shells on the floor. These were never swept clean so the shells became part of the bar's decor ... hehehe.; February 02, 2008 6:22 AM
