FRIENDS ON-BOARD A JEEPNEY IN QUIAPO

I hope the day will be a lighter highway
For friends are found on every road
Can you ever think of any better way
For the lost and weary travellers to go

Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand you will see the light
If your friends are there then everything's all right

It seems to me a crime that we should age
These fragile times should never slip us by
A time you never can or shall erase
As friends together watch their childhood fly

The picture is so approriate to the song. I guess it's still early in the morning when you took the picture because the children are still clean...hehe.

I find it funny to see that kid on the left side with a face towel on his back. Parang ganyan kami pag naglalaro nuon. Nilalagyan kami ng nanay ko ng bimpo sa likod to absorb the sweat at baka sipunin daw.

golly.. I can still remember some of my childhood friends' faces and especially the girl that I had a crush then but her family moved to Pasig and when I met her again in college she's grown up and very pretty.

hay...buhay!

Just a background on this photo, Mario:

Taken after a fire in Quiapo. The children may have been experiencing anxiety due to dozens of firetrucks on their street. This explains why they do not appear as jovial as regular local kids whenever being photographed.

Jeepneys have become a regular feature on my blog, donG, mainly because they are so ubiquitous but colorful.

It was taken during mid-afternoon, EM. After their siesta, perhaps :)

I love the play of light and shadows on them.

Wow! At least you had the chance to see her once more all grown up, Reyd!

Had a favorite girl classmate way back in first grade. She always looked so dainty. Anyway, towards the middle of the school year, they moved to the States and never saw her again. Forgot her first name but I remember her family name -- Pascual.

I love this photo! Reminds me of those old photographs, pati expression nila. If you made this into black and white, parang no'ng 50's ang dating.:D

I should try converting it to black & white, Luna. Interesting idea!

Thank you!
