A DAY WITH PAPA

This photograph was taken quite serendipitously one weekend afternoon while I was walking around the city. It has become one of my personal favorites, for It's reminiscent of the many Saturdays when my father used to take me along with him to his office.

And although the young boy's father in this photograph struggled with a tire problem, the boy must have simply regarded it a minor inconvenience, for what was more important for him, I'm sure, was the chance to spend a Saturday with his father -- to ride along on his jeepney and enjoy the many colorful sights and characters that Manila has to offer.

Eventually, for this young boy, the day's experiences will become treasured memories that will remain with him throughout his life -- to be fondly recalled and shared with his friends and children someday. Who knows? He may even become the next generation Senor Enrique.

Have a wondrous weekend everybody!

i like this photo too. my dad left the living world earlier than any of us wanted so what little memory i had with him picking out fleas from our dogs, Douglas and Bunggi, are very much treasured.

Sometimes, those simple fond memories can strengthen our love for those dear to our hearts, Photo Cache.

I can visualize you and your dad picking out those darn fleas. My dog was once infested after we spent an afternoon at Central Park one summer. It took the groomer until almost Christmas before that stubborn flea problem was finally solved. My poor dog.

ow eric, you make reminisce again. i never really had a good relationship with my dad. it was just a couple years ago, when i saw him again. he's one odd guy, i can never fully understand him. yet, i love him dearly. but i must say, dad is trying his best to make up for the years. there's no way we can relive my childhood days, but it's never too late to make up for it from here onwards. right? have a wonderful week end, eric and thanks for sharing this pic. now, let me call dad and see how he is. hahahah =)

Nakaka-cry naman ang entry na ito, Eric. I can imagine how happy you were whenever with your father.

It's my father's birthday, Sept. 21. He's 87 years old, but we'll celebrate it Sept. 22, when all his grandchildren who are working/studying in Manila will be home.

I guess I'm a daddy's girl too. I always felt secure with him around - like nothing could go wrong, ever.

Hehehe ... I don't know, Sidney, Kids these days learn fast. But then again, as they say, "the more the merrier!" Storytellers absolutely help enliven our city that is Manila :)

All I can say, Nell, is the world needs more daughters like you, Nell :)

I once knew a couple of friends who remind me of your dad as you had described him. And thank God for their "understanding" children who learned to accept them as they are, including their peculiarities.

Wow! Your father, Rhoda, and my brother Taba have the same birthday!

I'm sure, just like my brother, your father is a wonderful and fine human being :)

Belated Happy Birthday to your dad!

The photo clearly reminds me of the days I used to have with my late maternal grandfather. He'd watch his Chinese dramas and I'd accompany him.

(:

Ahhh ... so sweet of you to keep your Grandpa company, Kyels. I'm sure he enjoyed his Chinese dramas even more with you watching them with him :)
