MANILA'S ALIWAN FIESTA 2008 ON CNN

CNN has picked-up some of my photographs taken during the recent Aliwan Fiesta 2008. They're to be featured on CNN International’s new half-hour program called, “iReport for CNN.”

This program was broadast on Saturday May 17th
at 9:30 a.m. ET, but may have beeen repeated on the following Sunday at 3:30 a.m. ET, as well as this coming Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Although this may sound to be another shameless promotion, I'm glad to have helped a major international media organization present a positive image of the Philippines.

Thank you!

Senor Enrique!

Was that shown last May 17th? Two days after you posted this?

Congratulations Eric! I think (and a lot of your readers/fans) you rightly deserve this exposure. Just look at that picture/s and the article that goes with it.

I might not be paying too much attention, but where is this Aliwan Fiesta held?

But I think it will be re-broadcast this Tuesday at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm (Eastern Standard Time).

I received an email from the CNN editor last week but had completely forgotten about it until I received an email from a couple of friends from New York who caught it last Saturday.

Actually, I was waiting word on if and when it'd be telecast in Asia; that's why I forgot all about it.

This was held last May 3rd here in Manila. Perticipants were festival street dance performers from all over the country -- making this the most colorful and largest festival in Manila!

Many thanks, Mario!

That would be Tuesday 930 PM here, right?

I shall be glued to the tv set!

I am very proud of your work! I shall email my friends in the US to watch out for it.

Thank you very much, Dr. Magsasaka!

I had just emailed Kim Lute of Turner Communications to ask for the broadcast schedule of this program for the Southeast Asian countries. Will post it as soon as I hear from her.

The schedule as listed above is for the United States only. They have different segments for the Asian market, but retain the major programs as scheduled in the States such as those by Anderson Cooper's and Larry King's.

"It's amazing the opportunities that blogging has given us."

That is so true, Wil. I am one of those who have benefited from it; not to mention the many kind folks who have become friends.

However, there are still those in traditional media who sneer at bloggers yet at the same time, still material from them. They won't even acknowledge your formal letter of complaints ... hehehe.

Thanks, Wil!

Not yet, Luna, wait til I get a Pulitzer ... joke lang ... hahaha!

I've emailed the CNN editor and now waiting for broadcast schedule of that particular program for Asia. I think the CNN we see here in the Philippines is programmed from CNN's Hong Kong bureau. This explain the many British anchors we see.

I haven't seen the program myself, Yuki. As I've mentioned, it wasn't until I received the emails from New York friends this morning that I remembered about my photos being featured in that particular program.

Thank you for sharing with us your thoughts on it.

Hopefully, it will also be shown here in Asia.

Again, thank you, Yuki!

The many years I've spent in New York is the main reason why I feel a great desire to remain connected, and tuning in to CNN is one of the methods, Bernadette. However, truth be told, I'm not too crazy with the Australian and English accents of the anchors and correspondents of CNN's Asian edition ... hehehe.

Thank you, Bernadette :)
