Hi Eric,
Brilliant shot! =)
Summer really IS winding down to its inevitable end, and the cycle continues.
Now, a Gong Li retrospective sounds perfect! =)

Ahhh. Nostalgic. This reminds me of the old days with playmates from the neighborhood swimming by the river.

Beautiful pic! Taken at the Bay, Señor Enrique?
I'm sure those activities lined up here are interesting. But when I go to Manila next week to help Gem fix her unit, the first thing I will do is - watch SHREK 3!!!! My favorite animé ever! hehehe.- sheilamarie said...
such a lovely photo, eric! it really is a golden pond

That's so beautiful! Eric, I'm so excited, after all these years I'm finally taking a Basic Photography Seminar. I wasted a perfectly good manual SLR camera because I never knew how to use the functions and stuck to Auto for years. Now that I got myself a digital SLR, I've vowed to make full use of it. You and Sidney have been inspirations as well! :)

Thanks, hb00!
Yes, A Gong Li marathon in an air conditioned theater suits me just fine. Saw "Raise the Red Lantern" and loved it. What a cruel curlture they have, I thought.
Unfortunately, I've got errands and appointments to do/keep :(- Señor Enrique said...
Many thanks, Carla!

This picture makes me somewhat melancholy, MJ, because it does remind me of the ending summer. I remember when the time came to start preparing for the new school year and all.

Thanks, BW!
Setting the white balance to cloudy on a very sunny or bright day tend to give the picture a warming effect.- Señor Enrique said...
Ah, Shrek 3! That is a fun movie. I'm sure we can all enjoy that, Rhoda, espcially when you treat us ... hehehe.

Thank you, Sheilamarie!

You take beautiful photographs as it is, Christine, but I'm sure you'll expand your horizon even more by taking this workshop!
You'll have wonderful time and will learn so much. Keep us posted. Good luck!- Francesca said...

senor enrique,
the photo brings out the mood loud and clear.

With a dSLR, Francesca, set its White Balance to cloudy to give it a warm effect, and then later on with a photo editing software, saturate the color to bring out the yellow element of the photograph. Voila!

Thank you very much, DatuPanot!

Senor Enrique, I have always admired the way you have readjusted so well to the philippine scene after living the right way in a civilized and democratic country overseas for years . I hope to copy your style of reassimilation when I am in the retirement mode already

Hahaha ... thanks, Leo!
I'm sure had I not been born and spent up to my early teenage years here in Manila, I'd look at this city the same way I do at other Asian cities and say, "Nice, but no thanks!" :)
Manila is a big part of my being and I don't think I'll ever lose my love for it despite its shortcomings. It's like with my family -- it may not be perfect and at times even seems dysfunctional, but you remain forgiving.
And this is the reason why, like a smitten lover, I tend to only see the "good" about Manila ... Hehehe!
And with a new mayor now at the helm, I hope things will only get better :)- -= dave =- said...
Hm, Nautilus Comics sounds familiar. Anyway, now you have to work your charms on Mayor Lim. He just might appoint you :)
- Señor Enrique said...
Actually not a bad idea, Dave. Convince him to create a project to document the City of Manila's myriad streets and main thoroughfares and store in some online database. Sadly, we don't really have that much photographs of the city.

Salamat, Mimi.
This is the very first golden shot I had ever taken in my life ... hehehe! And only a day before (I think) I was watching James Bond's Goldfinger on cable TV.
