With the state of the nation today, you have to wonder, "What did Jose Rizal die for?"

I'd ike to think, J, that for the most part, the collective mind that permeated Rizal's time remains predominant today; thereby continuing to produce our present ills.
Study the peculiar personalities of the characters of his novels, as well as the pervading gemeinschaft, and you'll realize that those traits remain active (and considered the acceptable norm) amongst our self-proclaimed leaderships and the members of our tyrannical, though now subtler, elites.
The mental evolution or revolution that Rizal tried to inspire during his time, unfortunately, was perceived more as a call to arms; thus his message consequently got lost in the translation.- said...
