Ay, ang cute! Love that kid on third pic. OMG! Sana kung uso na ang cosplay noong bata pa ang mga anak ko, isasali ko sila. All I could dress them up with then was either Superman or Batman - tie cloth diapers around the neck and then they'd pretend to be superheroes. Hehehe.

And he's only two years old, Rhoda, and loves to pose for the cameras. He looks even cuter in person. Many photographers crowded around him.
I can only imagine the efforts and expense that these young people put into their costumes. Some of them are simply stunning.
I think the competition goes on until tomorrow, Sunday.
I wonder if Cookie (Scrooch Chronicles) entered her girls. She is incredibly creative when it comes to designing costumes for her daughters.
And yes, I can see you going all out in dressing up your kids, Rhoda! And I'm sure they would have lovet it, too :)- said...
Two years old! Is that the Peace sign he is making, or is he showing you how old he is?
Yes, I agree. Cookie makes wonderful costumes for her girls. And they also love to pose for the cameras. She should have entered them in this event. :)- said...
Okay, identifying some costumes...
First pic is Naruto, third pic is Inuyasha and the last is Haruhi Suzumiya. Wikipedia offers a good enough synopsis of their stories.- said...
Oh this is fun Eric. I'm looking at the pictures with my youngest son and he recognizes the characters from the shows Naruto and Inu-washa nga ba?

Ah there they are!
I'll try my best to identify hehe. 1.Naruto 2. Power ranger? 3. Inuyasha 4.Shinigamis but Yumichika(with eyebrow accessory) and Suifong (golden weapons) are recognizable, the other two im not sure 5. Kurosaki Ichigo - Other visitors will then help us identify the rest! =)
Would have loved to attend one too! My kids love these kinds of stuff. Thanks for posting them!- said...
I love the first picture. The young boy playing Naruto is so cute!

Is that you in the 7th picture?
Looks like you had fun taking pictures of those cosplayers.- Señor Enrique said...
I think I could get rid of stage fright if I were strictly an actor behind such incredible mask and costume, Sidney!
I was actually watching this guy put on the parts that comprise his head gear, and let me tell you, everything was well-crafted. Some of these people really worked put in a lot of work into their costumes.
It was fun taking pics of everyone :)- Señor Enrique said...
Those little kids were adorable, Kyels. And they seemed to be enjoying it all :)

Whoa! I'm impressed by your familiarity with these characters, G. Mirage. Wish I have the same insight; I would have enjoyed taking their pictures even more if I knew who they were representing.

Hi Irene!
It would have been a lot more fun for me, I'm sure, if I knew each character as does your son. Do you have similar events where you are?- Señor Enrique said...
Did you get a chance to check it out, Dave? I'm sure you'd get a kick out of these kids roaming around Glorietta's activity center in these incredible costumes :)

I think he was signaling his age, Rhoda, but it works just as well as a peace sign with his costume ... hehehe.

Wow, my three boys would love this show. They not only love the Wiggles and Hi-Five, but the older ones love the Transformers of my younger days.

I love the first pic! Especially that it's one of my son's favourite characters- NAruto. :)
- Señor Enrique said...
They would've loved being in the midst of all these costumed people in the activity center of Glorieta, JayAshKal. There were so many of them there last weekend :)
Whatever happened to the Trekkies? Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and etc. ... hehehe.- Señor Enrique said...
There was a nother boy, though older, dressed up as Naruto, Rey, but this tyke in the first picture got him beat :)

I passed by the area last Friday, Señor E, I had overtime work during the weekend.
The second pic doesn't look like Power Rangers to me, it could be one of those Super Sentai (the original color-coded superheroes from Japan).
I haven't been watching anime popular in the country, that's why I didn't recognize the characters from Bleach.
Just as in anime, the "kawaii" (cute) factor is key in the appreciation of cosplay.- Photowalker said...
The 2nd picture is Red Mask from the live action series Hikari Sentai Maskman. It was shown in the late eighties in IBC 13.
Passers-by in the event kept calling him Zaido Red which I think really irritated him considering a lot of sentai fans really hate Zaido.
I got him to pose for the photography contest.- said...
I couldn't identify anyone of these characters hehe :) but it looked like a great event to take portraits of these action heroes with their colorful costumes :)

Thank God, I kept my mouth shut, Photowalker -- I was one of those who thought he was a Power Ranger!
I pulled him from his friends to place him against a black background, and I was pleasantly surprised when he started giving me a few poses. He was a real pro when it came to getting into character :)- Señor Enrique said...
Saving up for a swanky condo in Makati, Dave? hehehe!
He did look like a Power Ranger to me, too, but Photowalker said he's supposed to be Red Mask from the live action series Hikari Sentai Maskman.
I was already too much into adulthood issues when this anime phenomenon started to emerge. I remember when my nephew was very much into collecting those transformer figure toys.
I got too stuck on Star Trek, I guess :)- said...
You're close, Señor E, but I don't think the OT pay would amount to much.
Ah, so it was Maskman... didn't check that one, and I was in my early grades when it was shown.
Nothing wrong with Star Trek, it's a great classic, though I'm not very much familiar with its universe. I'm fascinated by its science.- Señor Enrique said...
Welcome to the club, BW. I had no idea who these characters were but let me tell you I was very much impressed by the efforts all these young people put into their costumes. Very creative!

Ironically, Star Trek picked up steam when it was on rerun having been cancelled after a season or two, I think. I got into watching it as a way to lull me to sleep since it was aired late at nights. However, I still didn't get too immersed into it as may American kids did.
I still see you getting your own condo pretty soon! Hey, why not? You deserve it :)- gmirage said...
dave, photowalker; I originally wrote there Maskman, but was not so sure so I put a "?" and went with power rangers...My son came by while I was writing this and saw the photo then asked me: 'Power ranger?' =D
But looking closely it really is Takeru of the Hikari Sentai Maskman, who was given the name 'Michael Joe' sa Pinas. =D
I was wondering about Zaido and found out its a Pinoy production pala.
