Love mangoes... but a friend told me I shouldn't eat too much of them because of their high content of sugar.
But I don't care. I am heading to Quiapo... ;-)

Mango memories... When I was a kid, my mother would buy 'isang kaing ng mangga', unripe. She would hide it under the 'papag' for the fruits to ripen. Me and my Kuya, (only a year older than me, would then sneak under the papag and eat the ripe ones right there. My dress would be full of stains from the mango I ate, and then my mother would shriek in disgust. :)

The sweetest mango fruits are those that get ripe right from the tree. My eldest brother has a mango farm and occasionally, we get to taste fruits that are 'hinog sa puno'. Oops.. that reminds me - I have to pay him a visit soon, lest I forfeit my share of the harvest. hehehe.

They look so scrumptous and I can see the prices are cheap as well... Maybe just eat mangoes and other fruits and vegetables as oppose to rice.

That is my favorite fruit! We have delicious mangoes here too in Cambodia - but more like our mangapol (is that how you call it?) but I miss the Philippine mangoes.

I'm very much convinced by now, Sidney, that second to Divisoris, Quiapo has the best prices when in comes to fruits. Binondo's prices are quite steep.

That's funny, Rhoda! Some childhood memories you got!

By the way, remember those baby mangoes, too? They were incerdibly sweet.

We used to eat mangoes with suman :)

You do that, Mario, and someone is bound to horde the mangoes, other fruits, and vegetables as they've done with rice ... hehehe.

The mangoes we used to get in New York were from India, Arlan. They weren't as sweet as those from Pinas.

Good to know that the quality of the mangoes you enjoy in Cambodia is just as good as those from Pinas, Toe :)

My mouth is just watering from all of these images. Yummy says my tummy. It's a pity we can't get good mangoes (PHIL) here. I mean they are labelled Manila Mangoes, but as far as I am concerned that's all in the labelling. The taste is far from what I remember. I like both ripe and green mangoes the same amount.

Enjoy looking at your mango photos. The yellow and green colors are very vibrant. I like variety and love to eat mangoes where ever they are grown. For me variety is the spice of life.

Along the various streets of Quiapo, Photo Cache, are vendors of mangoes of various local varieties. They're all over the streets as they say :)

I love mangoes; they're really nice. But somehow or other it's not easy to find the sweet ones here but they still taste fine!

I hear of a recent buzz that Zambales mangoes are real sweet. (By the way, buy them there for about P20/kilo.) We've been getting free ones in a Nueva Ecija farm, so I guess Region 3 is a viable place to grow my favorite fruit. But I still want to taste the export quality ones in Camiguin.

Perhaps, Kyels, time your next visit to Manila during a mango season -- around this time or December. This way, you'll get to enjoy the few local varieties :)

Wow! Only P20 a kilo for the Zambales mangoes, Dave? In Binondo, they charge P80 per kilo. Outrageous, eh?

Hmmm ... haven't relished a mango from Camiguin, yet.

From Guimaras, Luna? Whoa! I wonder if they're commercially available in the metro area.

Now I'm very curious as with the variety from Camiguin that Dave had mentioned ... hehehe.
