This event I will miss the most if ever I go back to live abroad, Mandaragat.
But then again, I'd most probably time my vacation during this time of the year so I wouldn't miss it :)-

Is it always held on the 3rd of May, or on any date in May?
Nakakalito na kasi. Dito naman sa Dagupan, katatapos lang ng Bangus Festival. Tapos sumunod naman sa Calasiao town ang Puto Festival (yes, the famous mini-puto). Ay, nahihilo na ako sa dami ng festival.
But I would like to witness the Aliwan Fest next year because it's a showcase of the best of the best. It's like seeing all the festivals all over the country in just one event, di ba, Eric.
Come to think of it - don't you think the Philippines is the country with the most festivals in the entire world? If so, we might as well vie for a Guinness record in this category. hehehe.-

Thta's right, Rhoda. I also noticed many foreigners who come to watch this grand parade.
By the way, it doesn't follow any particular event. Last year it was held in the latter part of April. From what I was told, this was originally a Christmastime attraction which was moved to the summertime.
That's a good idea. Someone should compile all the names and dates of all local festivals and then submit to Guiness.-

This Aliwan is quite extravagant is nature! Each costume must have costed some thousands of pesos unless the producers know how to scrimp :-)...that is more the nature of Europeans. They have costumes that are handed down generations, I heard.
I love those dancers in action (last photos)! Dramatic lines :-)!-

i think the DOT has a complete list of all the festivals. usually they publish it in the paper in the monthly basis.

Thanks, Bernadette. Taking action shots in low light condition is really exasperating :( One can only do "artsy" shots ... hehehe.
Yes, sopme of these costumes are really elaborate. But I'm sure they received contributions to defray the costs.-

I agree, Luna. Iba talaga ang Pinoy pag "inspired" ... hehehe. Ang gaganda talaga ng mga costume nila.
It would be nice to do a pictorial of some of each group's members for portrait shots -- all made up and wearing their awesome costumes.-

Believe it or not, this festival was originally presented during the Christmastime, but it evolved to become the summer's biggest draw.-

It was only my second, Ding, and had looked forward to the next since the the very first. A wonderful festival, indeed.
There must've been hundreds of fellow photographers, too, which made the whole thing even more exciting!
