UGLY BETTY COMES TO QUIAPO

This old house at the corner of Bilibid Viejo and Progreso Streets has once again become the center of attraction in this Quiapo neighborhood. Certain segments of the Philippine version of the popular television show Betty La Fea is being shot here.

This house and the immediate neighborhood have been the backdrop for many movies and tele-novelas produced in the past couple of years; thus, many local folks, much like New Yorkers, are quite used to the presence of production crews and major stars coming to the neighborhood to film or videotape their latest projects.

Wow, they're lucky to have all these shootings going all arund in their neighbourhood.

I love the feautured old house, just that the electricity and phone lines are distracting the beauty and the charm...

I'm not up to date with the local TV shows, but it's interesting to know that this neighborhood is a popular backdrop of the the local tele-novelas. May nakita ka bang artista when you took these photos?:D

Any information on the history of this particular house? Although it definitely shows the wear from its age, it still looks pretty well maintained.

Not only are they distracting, but those telephone and electricity lines prevented me from doing architectural shots of some old houses in Manila, Mario. In some areas, the only thing you can see are those lines because they're so many that they literally obscured the structures of interest.

by the way, not too long ago, a foreign film was shot in this same area besides the local movies and tele-novelas.

I shot these photos on my way to visit with some friend's and then on my way home, Luna. I didn't see any of the show's stars but was only told that Vhing Navarro, Bea Alonzo and Ai Ai de las Alas were inside the house.

I rarely watch television so like you, I have no idea about these shows. But from what I understand, Batty La Fea is an international sensation with many countries producing their own take on it much like the Big Brother series.

Yes, it happens to be one of the most well-maintained houses in the area.
