TWILIGHT IN METRO MANILA


I had to be in Makati City this afternoon. I took this photograph while walking along Chino Roces Avenue on my way back to Greenbelt.

Back at home, while reviewing all the shots I took today, I picked this one out to use as the accompanying photo to my entry for today. However, I ended up just staring at it. I couldn’t come up with anything to write about.

So I decided to just write down the first word that comes to mind — appreciation.

And then just leave it at that.

    Earlier that day, Minotte, I had commented on Sassy Lawyer's photo post entitled, "Cottony Cloud and Wild Grass," that the Philippine skies must have one of the most photogenic cloud formations I have ever seen, but due to the rains and overcast horizon as of late, hard to capture.

    And that same evening, as I looked back before crossing the street, there was this incredible sight! And for the life of me, I couldn't come up with a good enough story to go along with it. I was too awe-struck, I guess.

    Yes, Kyels ... how true it is, for I couldn't even think of the right words to best describe how I was seeing this picture :)

    Its beauty and grandeur, actually, made me appreciate life among many things.

    It wasn't so much writer's block as appropriate entry for it, Ipanema.

    I thought of just cutting and pasting some lyrics from a favorite song or something, or perhaps, a quote from one of our history's notable figures.

    And then I thought of John Cage's seminal book, "Silence."

    Finally ... appreciation.

    Oh, it certainly was, Niceheart! Simply awe-inspiring.

    BTW, you saw "Sleepless in Seattle," right. There was this one song they used as soundtrack which kept repeating inside my head while I was admiring this awesome sight. Its first verse is:

    And now the purple dusk of twilight time
    Steals across the meadows of my heart
    High up in the sky the little stars climb
    Always reminding me that were apart
    You wander down the lane and far away
    Leaving me a song that will not die
    Love is now the stardust
    Of yesterday

    To me this could mean like Thanks heavens, everything went well for the day. the twilight represents the end of a fruitful day at the same time the start of a new and bright day and thus a thought of appreciation came to your mind.

    It's been a long time since I've seen "Sleepless in Seattle" and I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't remember or recognize the song. I did google it. It was a Nat King Cole song titled Stardust. Now, you've got an entry to accompany this awesome photo. :)

    this is a beautiful shot. i have lived in makati for 27 years and it is very rare i see the sky turn dark orange/yellow like that. beautiful blog, i must say. ;)
