Funny, but every time Ash Wednesday is observed, the tune "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" always creeps in my mind.. :)
Nice to see the faithfuls going to the church on Ash Wednesday to receive the ash on their forehead. I just hope they truly, really understand the meaning and symbolism of it all. :)- nutart said...
If you'd have period pics side by side with your photos, Eric, you wouldn't know the difference except by the clothes.
Your last picture is quite thought provoking. In the so-called "booming economy" we are experiencing, you still can see poverty and hunger abound. I once caught the sight of about 10 (!) teenagers sniffing rugby along EDSA/Cubao thoroughfare. They were in various stages of "inebriation." But your picture seems to be more of a family coping with hunger kaya they opted for giving rugby instead of milk to their young.- reyd said...
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" ~!
"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."
Have a blessed Lenten Season to you and your family.- Panaderos said...
That last picture is quite moving, Eric. I hope those kids, and the many others who share their plight, be showered with care and guidance so that they grow up to be productive citizens with the capability and skill to improve their lot in life.
