IT'S SUMMER ONCE MORE
Gone are the cool mornings and evenings of only a couple of weeks ago. These days, Manila is once again subjected to uncomfortable humidity. So much so, that one could find himself sweating while getting dressed right after taking a shower. It's that hot in Manila once again.
Chow King probably put up this incredibly gigantic billboard along Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo to remind Manileños that there's always its popular halo-halo if one should need a quick respite from the sweltering temperature.
However, I am one of those who get a headache from too much halo-halo or frappuchino. And although some chilled watermelon and citrus fruits are ideal alternatives, a ten-peso dirty ice cream on a sweet cone can be hard to resist sometimes, especially on a hot summer day.

How do you compare New York and Manila during summer time?
I always try to pick the right time (weatherwise)to go places but this is not always possible...I either goofed or I just have to go regardless. Mag-enjoy na lang, maski malamig o mainit as long as your body can tolerate it. Sabi nga, if you don't mind, it does not matter LOL.- Sidney said...
Enjoy your Holy Week, Eric.
I am off tomorrow and I will be back in April if I don't decide to stay in a remote island for the rest of my life !;-)
Love the picture of that little girl and her ice cream...

I prefer sunny days; never had the experience of how humid Manila can be during summer but I'd love to try it one day. I guess I'm a fan of sunshine!

On the contrary, halo halo, ice cream, ice candy, cool soft drinks do not cool our bodies off. They only fuel us with more calories, hence providing more heat. Nonetheless, a scoop of ice cream (ube is my fave!) and a bowl of Chowking halo halo are irresistible. Sarap!

It is also stifling hot here in Cambodia. Yesterday, I just had to have halo-halo from the Filipino carinderia. But I would love that kid's dirty ice cream... I want ube and keso. :)

inggit ako dun sa sorbetes ng baby girl! I love that kind of ice cream!
I also had more an acquired taste for halo-halo (believe it or not :-)) and hot days are like being me driven up against the wall and...sige na nga, maghalo-halo na lang tayo! I'd rather eat good ol' hot Ma Mon Luk mami :-).- Ebb Tide said...
Nothing attracts my artistic eyes than the bright RED color. So for me, the winning photo is the reddish , delicious and healthy looking fruit called watermelon.

Chowking halohalo is tops on my list for summer's must eat foods. I just got back from Tagaytay and its hot there too. And to think we were just there a few weeks ago and it was still cold then.

New York summer can be just as hellish, bertN, with temperatures rising to above a hundred degrees during a heat wave. However, I am a summer person and enjoy it even if I spent the entire season in the city.
New York also hosts a myriad of evening cultural performances, as well as fun-filled weekend activities, which is basically the same here in Metro Manila :)- Señor Enrique said...
A remote island may offer gorgeous landscape images for your camera, Sidney, but nothing beats the vibrancy of Quiapo ... hehehe.
Have a safe vacation and be generous with the sunblock!- Señor Enrique said...
You and me both, Kyels. I love the summertime!

And lots of kids out there playing and afterwards buying those halo-halo or "iced saging saba" is another indication that summer is finally here, Pusa.

That is correct, Rhoda!
You ought to try Razon's halo-halo also one of these days :)- Señor Enrique said...
That little girl with sorbetes was just too irresistible, Panaderos. I had to take her picture :)

I guess, it's the same all over Asia nowadays, Toe, summertime!
You're lucky to have Filipino eateries where you are to enjoy some halo-halo :)- Señor Enrique said...
Have a fun and safe summer, Dave!

Many balikbayan guests crave for Ma Mon Luk siopao and mami, Bernadette ... hehehe. But there is another Chinese noodle house I have been taking them to which they love! Will feature it soon :)

Ah, the red watermelons, Ebb Tide. They're also refreshingly good! Light and sweet :)

Thanks, Photo Cache! I'm actually making good use of my long-sleeved button down shirts. I always wear one along with a golf hat whenever I go out on a photo shoot :)

And this drastic change in weather has many people nursing a cold, Cookie. I was one of them :(
Tagaytay was hot? And I always thought it's always cooler up there.- armovil said...
Yes Senor, I am one of the avid buyer of pakwan in Quiapo every summer 10/slice. Missed ko na ang pakwan diyan. Ang beach ng Pinas at summer time there.

Perhaps, someday soon, Armovil, you will return for a vacation and enjoy once more all those things you've missed :)
