MARCH FOR TRUTH AND ANTI-CORRUPTION
Thousands from Metro Manila and neighboring provinces -- with some filling jeepneys and buses -- convened in Makati's financial center to attend yesterday's march and inter-faith prayer for truth and against corruption.
The turnout was far more overwhelming than the previous February 16 rally that was attended by only about ten thousand rallyists. Moreover, besides the usual militant and opposition groups, many representatives from various religious, civic and academic organizations came to participate.
Many brought along their families as well, and their images are those I had selected to mainly represent my coverage; that is because the end result of this and ensuing similar events shall greatly affect the future of these young people.

The citizens really want to oust Mrs. Arroyo from her seat in the Government. I hope the truth will prevail for the greater good. Love the photos; nice documentary.

Nice one Senor Enrique! Pero bakit CARP parin ang isinisigaw ng ibang raliyista. Manifesto ba ito na walang nangyari sa ipinaglaban nila noong nakibaka sa EDSA1 22 years ago?
O sinadyang imposibleng mangyari dahil walang puwang sa mga mambabatas at gobyerno ang mga ordinaryong mamamayan kung kaya't ang mga pangagailangan nila ay hindi priority dahil ang mga naka-upo sa puwesto ay dominante ng mayayamang pulitiko at iilang maimpluwensiyang angkan na nagsasabwatan at hanggang ngayon ay komokontrol at may hawak ng 95% ng kabangyaman ng Pilipinas.

Gosh! I recall being told by my teacher "you are the future of this country..." Now, I have to say it to my nieces and nephews and the other young people we try to help out! It can get scarey---to say it as well as be told it!
But, because of my college days, habits die hard. If I see an injustice, abuse or corruption done, I immediately face the person and tell him/her off (no kidding!)...well, sometimes, I put it into a Pinoy lambing stance. But this goes involuntary with me because of what my elders had inculcated in me.
Now, it is our time to pass on the "indoctrination" of God's Absolute Laws. Or be damned!-

i heard that numerous others from the provinces became hesitant to come because of check points.
as much as i would want to participate, i cant. you know how it is with a working mom. also, the risks of going to rallies are getting higher. the arroyos are pretty desperate holding on.-

Man is born in chaos and turbulence from cradle to grave. But it does not imply that there are no pockets of merriment, peace, laughter, etc. in all that. Your pics graphically bring that out, especially among the innocents.
I say that and make this comment because when I do the rounds of the politically-oriented blogs in the old homeland, all I read are the turbulence and chaos besetting the entire country. Perpetually angry people spouting angry incendiary rhetoric, still the country lives in turbulence and chaos.
Imagine instead that instead of continually inciting the populace to mass protests and civil disobedience, time and resources of each participant are re-directed toward its abatement with more productive endeavors.
Thus, each time one reads or hears of any perceived shortcomings whether in government or in the private sector, one simply redoubles efforts toward the betterment of just his own family.
Each flap of that butterfly's wings no doubt will affect the entire country for good.-

I don't have much say in Philippine Politics because I have not grasp of what is going on. Another is the fact, I don't know whom to believe.
I don't discount there is corruption and let him in Philippine Politics without corruption blood running in his vein cast the first stone. Estrada, Cory Aquino, a cross in one hand and hell with the other? Please!
People Power which is Preached by these illustrious people is taking the law into their own hands. We have a form of government, we have laws, we have a justice system, so why do people want Anarchy?
Maybe what we need is a BRUTAL, TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM OF government like SINGAPORE! No personal freedom besides what the system dictates.

You didn't spot schoolchildren? Some comments in Philstar are slamming the schools for including their students in the rally without parental consent.
See how different advocacies converged in this rally. One bishop even asked if the attendance was for politics or prayer. The presence of politicians was a big turn-off.-

Iyan ang mga salita ng mga nakakatanda nuong ako ay bata pa. But I'm sorry to say that I failed, we failed and most likely this new generation will fail if the Filipinos would not change their attitude and have discipline. Nakaraos na tayo ng konti ng naibagsak natin ang pamumuno ng isang malupit na kawatan ngunit mas marami pang magnanakaw ang nag labasan at hangga't sa kasalukuyan, ito ang sakit ng ating bayan.
Sumakit na ang ulo ko kakapanood sa TFC ng senate hearing about this scandal ang katapusan lang niyan ay kung ang dalawang panig ay umamin sa isa't isa na lahat sila ay mga magnanakaw.

Dito ako tuwang tuwa:
1. Jun Lozada ask some help from the religious orders.
2. The president is on the media with some kababayan priests and always shown attending mass.
3. The Abalos family rely on prayers to stay strong on this situation.
4. Former presidents and opposition leaders attended an inter-faith prayer for truth rally.
Aba'y, kahit na sino mang Diyos, mahihilo sa ginagawa nila.

I hate to say this but the Lozada hearings are but a sham. I say this due to the fact that a Senate subcommittee does not have any power to mete out any punishment to any guilty parties. These hearings would have been a lot more relevant and interesting had they been done in a court of law.
We already have enough anti-corruption laws in place. All we need to do is implement them to the letter. There is no further need to conduct hearings that are supposedly "in aid of legislation". The people are so tired of hearing such justification for these sham hearings. I apologize for the rant, Eric.-

We are like the street dogs who keep on chasing after those passing cars, if he catches it what is he going to do with it.We are excellent in rallies and protest but are poor in persecuting our corrupt officials and making sure they suffer the pain of punishment which will at least deter others from copying them.

These are nice shots of children, Eric. But I don't understand what they're doing in the rallies...even peaceful ones. It goes to show that some people see these rallies as picnics, a free concert, and seeing their 'idols' in person.
