ANOTHER TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY
The photo site that I use to store some of my images online is currently experiencing technical difficulties; thus, many of my photo essays may not load up at this time.
And speaking of technical difficulties, certain parts of Manila suffered a power outage between 9 a.m. and noon yesterday when a construction crane accidentally hit a National Transmission Corp. (Transco) line near Sta. Mesa, Manila.
According to Meralco, the damage affected some of its substations in nearby areas, causing power to go out for as long as three hours.
The brownout paralyzed the light rail transport system which caused thousands of metro commuters stranded and scrambling for alternate means of transport. On the other hand, with every household electric fan and air-conditioner unable to operate, Manileños were subjected to the searing summer temperatures.

Power cut-offs are definitely a great inconvenience during the summer season. Even more so with the use of MRT and the LRT! Here in the province, life is simpler talaga. When there is no power, it is more us (those with all the gadgets) phoning the electric company to get the repairs done fast or merely inquiring when the power will come back so we can turn on our gensets. The locals would simply light their candles and fan themselves patiently.

sounds like a disaster. a power outage can show us how dependent we are to electricity.

A power outage is the last thing we need when summer is at its peak.
I don't think I'll ever see the day when a lot of these power lines around Metro Manila are finally buried underground. At least, not as long as the Lopez family controls Meralco.- Sidney said...
Very unfortunate!
Hope you and Meralco's problems will be over soon.
If not, just head for the beach, Eric.
I can picture you under a coconut tree, with a bottle of San Mig light... looking at the beach babes passing by.
Leave those technical difficulties behind... ;-)- DatuPanot said...

It would be worse if the brownout struck after 12 noon.
