A COOL SIESTA
The sudden summer rain that came this morning brought along with it some cool air. Indeed, a welcomed respite for many Manileños. They have endured the sweltering temperatures in the metropolitan area during the past weeks, as well as the extended brownout the other day that shut down all air-conditioners and electric fans.
The rain also washed out the heat off the pavements which made taking a nap a favored lunchtime activity or inactivity by some lucky folks like this fruit vendor and her daughter.

Masarap magpahinga pagtapos ng trabaho. I miss the smell of the market there. It is hard to explain the odor and aroma mixture plus the sound of the buzzling crowd during busy days.
Wala pang smell-o-vision(Emeril) ang photos, pero I can just imagine. Ganyan din minsan sa pasillo sa tindahan namin sa Divisoria, maraming nagpapahinga after a good meal or during a slow and lazy day.- Señor Enrique said...
Many thanks, Photo Cache!
Yes, decisive moment ... hehehe! I was indeed lucky to have taken this shot.- Señor Enrique said...
Hi Pat,
That young man on the top left of the photo was taking care of business while these folks enjoyed their cool siesta :)- Señor Enrique said...
My father used to sometimes come home during lunch and take a nap after having his meal, Reyd.
Taking afternoon naps is supposedly very good for one's health, including mental health, from what I heard.
Yes, this is a common sight in Manila during the lunch time period. I think Sidney Snoeck has an entire series devoted on such scene.
