A WEDDING FAUX PAX
Under normal circumstances, this bride and groom would have been the center of attraction. But in this particular occasion, as evidenced by this photograph, the couple appeared more of a nuisance to the crowd fixated on enjoying the grand parade along Roxas Boulevard at that very moment.Apparently, whoever was their wedding coordinator, he or she failed to check the list of major events in Manila scheduled on that day; otherwise, another locale would've been suggested to shoot a picture of the newly-weds with Manila Bay’s glorious sunset as backdrop. In so doing, the bride would have been spared undue stress on her already frail nerves.
Nevertheless, this couple was able to eventually cross unharmed and proceed with their intended photo shoot. Believe it or not, there were three other newly-wed couples who, unfortunately, suffered the same fate along the boulevard on that festive day.

huwaaat?! kawawa nman sila. was this during the aliwan festival?

Huhuhu.
Well, at least they are highlighted now, on your blog. Hehe.

Awwww.. 'wawa naman sila. Naku, I have to warn my nephew who is getting married there in Manila in January, to check other events in order to avoid similar hitches. Ninang pa naman ako. ... hehehe.

Wait... looking at their pic again, the bride seems upset, but the groom is all smiles. Siguro dahil naaliw sa mga magagandang Reyna Elena. LOL!

They could have used the parade as a backdrop instead. Now you don't have that kind of opportunity in most weddings.

I agree with Dave. They could have taken advantage of the opportunity.
At any rate, somebody please shoot their coordinators.- lateralus said...
I want the coordinator's contact number! She did a superb job! hahaha

i was in my friend's wedding entourage and right before we marched in the church, i stepped on a dog's poop. needless to say, i made a mark (and stench) on my friend's wedding day......on the entire lenght of the white carpet!!

I was very much surprised when I saw them on the other side trying to cross. I was, "What on earth ..."
And they also seemed to have been standing there for quite some time before I took notice of them, Photo Cache :)- Señor Enrique said...
Yes, Carla, this was during the Aliwan Festival.
They were actually on the exact area where the participants would break into their much anticipated street dance; a highly restricted zone. And this was the reason they couldn't just easily cross the boulevard.- Señor Enrique said...
They weren't the only newly-wed couple caught unaware on that day, Kyels, but I was too engrossed by the parade to have taken shots of the other couples.
- Señor Enrique said...
Good idea, Rhoda! I don't exactly know where your nephew's wedding photographer plans to take them for after the church ceremony picture taking, but it pays to know all logistics involved.
Yes, that bride looked like she was about to cry at some point.- Señor Enrique said...
That's a good thought, Dave! They could later tell their grandkids that there was a festive parade to celebrate their wedding day!

This goes to show how significant a job being a wedding coordinator, Superpasyal. Not an easy task at all.
- Señor Enrique said...
That's a positive way of looking at it, Lateralus. Yes, no need to shoot the wedding coordinator then :)
- Señor Enrique said...
Oh no, DatuPanot! That must have been so unpleasant :)
I was a ring bearer to a cousin's wedding in the barrio and they had dogs walking about undisturbed inside the church during the entire ceremony!- Sidney said...
The first problems in their married life... ;-)

Ah, the faux pas! =)
Come to think of it, Eric, it's in those small miscues and kapalpakans that make a wedding memorable.
Of course, M and I had a lot in ours but not as bad as those you posted about.
=)- Learning Team said...
naku, akala ko sila ay kasali sa parada...lol
this is a good story to tell when they have their grandchildren.- Señor Enrique said...
I'm sure, Sidney, there were many more prior to this day. I've seen weddings almost canceled because the respective family of both sides refused to compromise on certain dates, churches, location of reception halls, and etc. ... hehehe.
- Señor Enrique said...
You're right, hb00 -- those spontaneous booboos do make a wedding more memorable. But hopefully nothing that would scare the bride as in this picture ... hehehe. She really looked frightened by the huge crowd!
- Señor Enrique said...
That's right MM!
Nothing wrong with a little embellishment later on and allude that a major parade along Roxas Boulevard followed immediately after their church ceremony ... on the way to the reception hall ... lol!- Unknown said...
The bride does look scared and the groom seems happy --i think looking you :)
They should have taken the opportunity to have the photo during one of the major dance!!! and other costumed people! Parang gawin nila party background ---celebrating with them and their wedding:) rather than the usual lonesome couple photo by the Bay.
It reminds me of my boss who proposed to his wife a few minutes before new year 2000 at Times Square NY. He total took advantage of the event and fireworks as a backdrop to his "personal" event.- Señor Enrique said...
That was sweet and romantic, Daisy, but crowded also :)
I've a feeling this bride was fazed out by the large crowd, and as you said, scared by it.
However, your suggestion of having the parade as part of their photo shoot would have been exciting, indeed!- said...
I'm concerned about da guy in white shirt/black pants, his awkward posture only indicates he's not a PMA grad.
Haaay newley weds!! Hope theirs will last long!! Cheers...- Señor Enrique said...
Apparently not, TrueBlue. He was probably just getting tired from doing the shoot. Wedding photographers do have to work hard to earn their money. It's not an easy task to cover a highly emotionally-charged family event.

Hahaha! That's a funny photo! Their excuse could be... they just stopped on their way to the church to watch the parade. :)
- Señor Enrique said...
Or they wanted to kill some time between the church ceremony and the reception by checking out the Aliwan Festival parade along Roxas Boulevard, Toe ... hahaha!
- said...
haha, nakakatawa. kawawa lng ang bride. sa manila daw kasi hirap mgpakasal kasi punuan ang church and restaurant scheds...
- Señor Enrique said...
Which goes to prove, Kars, that wedding photography is the most profitable gig for most photographers. We'll never run out of couples wanting to get married :)
- dodong flores 도동 플로오리스 said...
Hilarious! :-) But then, that was it...
- Señor Enrique said...
You're right, Dodong. No one would enjoy being in her shoes at that moment. The photo reveals her enxiety.

oh goodness!
would've been nice too if they shot with the crowd. hahaha!
ok i'm mean.. but hey.. creative juices!- said...
Hi Senor Enrique! I'm the photographer of the couple you posted here! It's like a photo of a paparazzi! I am so sorry to tell you this but just like the paparazzi, you fragmented a story out of a picture. In fact, I think you just captured a "it's hot", "nasisilaw" or a mid sentence look that you translated as dismay of the client. Kindly check my multiply and their wedding pictures and yes, including the ones in the parade, and see if they are not having a great time in their pictorial, and sorry, it's not the sunset we're after but the rarity of capturing our newlyweds with such a festive event as their background. They were married at the Malate Catholic Church and we took the disadvantage of the closed Roxas Boulevard to our advantage. And the people around us were actually congratulating the couple and I have a picture that one of them was actually taking picture of the couple on his mobile phone. Next time, make sure of your judgements. Please!

Hello Erron & Jay Jay,
Glad to know it turned out to be a successful day for everyone involved!
Thanks for dropping by and sharing with us the real scoop :)- Unknown said...
errr...poor paparazzi...i cant believe you are making a story out of just a couple of photos! And to those who made negative comments and kantyaw (ang dami nyo!).....ayan you now know the true story. Next time wag padalos dalos sa comments kung di nyo naman talaga alam ang totoong nangyayari. Shame on you guys.
anyway here are the pictures...see if you can still say again those comments you made earlier haha

Thank you, Dino, for highlighting the success obscured by the photograph of what seemed to be a stressed out bride.
Now, the truth has been revealed, and we're glad to know that it was indeed a smashing success!
Cheers!- markku said...
Appears everything turned out well for everyone, especially the couple concerned. I guess we just need to understand Eric's concern relating to the photo, suggesting that the wedding suppliers, especially the coordinators, should always be prepared and aware of any unforeseen events that may affect the wedding ceremonies.
As for the photographers, most of us are rather creative enough to make the most out of uncertainties. ;)- Señor Enrique said...
Your having understood my overall concern in regards to this article, Markku, is highly appreciated.
Thank you!
